Love Haikus to Streaming Content
I wait patiently           As you buffer with my shows.            At last! I can watch!      2.  Without you I would            Be totally confused by           Tete-a-tetes on set.      3.  Yes, maybe I watch           Whitney and Glee but please don’t           Tell my acting coach.       4.  Did you know that Law           And Order is now streaming           On Netflix?...

Can I Get a Witness?
I need someone to explain something to me. I need to figure out if I’m a) super lazy b) super judgmental c) super pretentious d) actually on to something or e) all of the above. I got a notice for an audition to put myself on tape for a film. Always exciting. The project is filming in New Orleans which translates to (if I booked it) a trip home. Even more exciting. However upon...

Improving My Way Towards Better Health and A...
Improv out in LA is much like improv in many big entrainment hubs.  There are the major groups that teach classes. Typically the teachers are funny people you see peppered throughout primetime and late night comedies.  There are the unknown groups that teach classes. Which I don’t know a lot about because I’m not playing with my career and I only take classes from a major...

Best Advice to A Young Actor
Some say the best advice is to take Fountain. To be fair, if you happen to be making a phone call while doing so to your manager or agent it’s not always the best advice. Hashtag: dropped calls. And, honestly, there are the locals you have to be aware of…. Some say the best advice is to attend workshops and acting classes to keep that muscle flexed. Some say you have to be in an...

It Was One of "Those" Auditions
I relish the auditions that come around that are able to make into my Top Ten Most Insane Auditions Ever. Even when they inevitable go horribly wrong I can’t wait to get into my car and call someone - anyone - and tell that person the amazingness that I endured.  I had one such audition at Runyon a while ago. For those of you who don’t know - Runyon is not a casting studio, but...

Proof That I Do Work From Time to Time
Last November I got to live out a bit of a dream. Jakob Bilinksi is an insanely talented director that I have worked with before: seriously - keep this dude on your radar - he’s only get better and smarter and will eventually take over. And, he wanted to work with me (a) again, (b) on a bigger project, (c) in a location that required me to leave LA and (d) with a kick ass indie script. It...

Is it May 18th Yet?
I’m in day 3 of a 28 day full body cleanse.  I love food. No. That’s not even accurate. Food for me is something that calms and excites me at the same time. And since learning how to cook - arguably not as good as my mom or my brother, it’s one of the few things that I can do daily that lets me be artistic in a non actory way. Beside loving to cook it I love to eat it. And a...

Big Girls Don't Cry
However, when they do, it’s usually because they just perused this site and saw all the jobs other people booked.  It’s a fairly masochistic thing to do to oneself. But I’m an actor. Self hatred is pretty much a given.  It’s ok because this is my dog: And he always makes me crazy happy.

Queen for a Day
Queen is probably my favorite band. I’m not one for certitudes so I hesitate saying My Favorite Band but at this exact moment I can’t think of a band that has quite the same affect on me. Queen is my go to for when I need any kind of emotional support. I love them and I think they would love me too.  My go to for when I have an audition is Breakthru. I mean look at the lyrics: If I...

This Won't Take To Long to Read...
I’ve entered into a stage of my life where the majority of my friends are engaged or married and some of them are even (shudder) procreating.  I’m happy for all them. They are charging into adulthood and responsibility with an excitement that I typically reserve for new episodes of 30 Rock.  Thursday’s on NBC - 8:30/7:30c Truthfully, my simple life of Boyfriend, dog, day...

Another Day Another Audition
“Ooooh yeaaaaah…..totally forgot that character even existed. Ok…let’s see what you can do.” ~ Producer at An Audition (actor reenactment of said producer) Nothing takes the wind out of your well prepared, perfectly dress self than the realization that the part that you are totally pumped and excited to audition for is so small the producer forgot about...

I Had An Audition Yesterday
Above is a screen shot of the character breakdown.  I was easily the biggest girl at the audition.  I wear a size 2 dress.  This town is messed up.  On a good note (see! I’m being more upbeat - like I mentioned I may attempt to be) I got a “great job!” from the Casting Director - so fingers crossed I was appropriately angry and heavy!

A Clarification
I just got back from a lovely 3 day weekend in NYC.  The timing of this trip was perfect. Let me be clear about this: I actually love living in LA. For some reason the traffic doesn’t cause me the kind of hysterical anger it does to other people. And while the perpetual sunshine can be a wee bit exhausting to a girl from the Deep South who loves her 5 pm Summer Showers, it’s hard...

Remember my Triple A - this is why I don't worry...
I have a fake audition on Thursday. I’m pretty excited about it actually. A few weeks ago I had an audition that easily ranks within my Top 5 Strangest auditions I’ve ever had. Part of what made it bizarre was the comment the director made during said audition that his friend, who is also casting a project, might contact one of us to audition for his project. This is laziness on an...

How Many Calories Can I Burn With A Cold Sweat?
I haven’t had a real audition in a while. By real I mean a job that helps pay for the gas I need to get there.  I’m extremely lucky because while I haven’t had a real job in a while I have had some fake jobs (read: non-paying jobs) where I’ve gotten to work with some extremely talented people, attempted to network with said people and possibly get another fake job from...

What do you think they mean by “very intuitive,...
A good part of my daily routine is going through the breakdowns trying to find auditions I can submit to. For all my non actory readers out there - or rather my only reader out there (hi mom!) let me explain to you what breakdowns are. I don’t get the breakdowns that agents and managers have emailed to them directly (I do but not “officially”) so I rely on online breakdown...

I'm Failing At Hollywood
I’ve been in LA now for over three years. By no means am I a local. But I’m learning my way around town and I officially don’t feel like a poser when I say things like: “the 101 is the worst” and “Fountain. Just take Fountain” and “Blue Palms. Go. Epic.” Though trying to be an actor in LA (yes, this is that sort of blog) has offered its nice...
